Upgradation Of Governemnt Girls Middle Schools
Social and economic constraints of Community are restrictive factors for the mobility of girls. Lack of hostel facilities in majority of the Girls High Schools and lack of proper transport and poor road network are the additional factors.
Matric is the threshold level for the females to enter into the teaching or any other Government jobs. Lack of Secondary Education deprives most of the girls of this opportunity.
Teachers for secondary school classes are recruited through the Public Service Commission. Sanction of posts by the Finance Department, and completion of recruitment process by Public Service Commission may take 2—3 years.
EEF is going to launch a Pilot Project in 2005-2006,with the up gradation of upgrading 5 Middle Schools to the Status of Secondary in 5 backward districts of NWFP. For this purpose 3—5 teachers will be hired on contract basis with an average pay of 5000—8000 rupees per month.
Again institutional Co-ordination with Schools and Literacy Department is in place so that such schools are incorporated in the Annual Development Programme for up-gradation. The response, so far, is highly encouraging and EEF intends to expands scope of this scheme further.
